Anand
DOB: 4/12/1999
Anands father died before he was born. His mother was left to take care of him along with his two older sisters. One of his uncles sold his oldest sister into prostitution. A local pastor had read about the FID home in the newspaper and talked to Anands mother about bringing her two children to the FID home before the uncle could sell Esther, Anands other sister. His mother decided to take them to the home where they would be safe. Since then Esther has left the home, but Anand continues to enjoy his new family here.Before coming to the FID home, Anand was taught about Sai Baba, a Hindu god his family worshipped. He has now learned about the love of Christ as he and the others pray together three times a day and we sing worship songs, praising God.

Ashok Kumar
DOB: 12/5/99
After their father left them, Ashok Kumar and his younger sister Ramya lived in a rental house with their mother. Their mother had to take work as a sweeper at the hospital, but still did not make nearly enough to support the three of them. After someone told her about the FID childrens home, she decided to take her children there to be provided for. Ashok Kumar and his sister Ramya are now very attached to the FID family at the home. He is quite athletic and enjoys playing any kind of sports with the others. He also enjoys school very much. Like almost all of the children, Ashok Kumar was taught about Hinduism before coming to the home. He had never heard about Jesus Christ. He is now growing in his faith as daily routine at the home includes prayer and Bible study for all of the children.

Andrew

Andrew came to the FID Children’s Home with his brother Peter. Their mother died of AIDS and the father was infected with the disease. Being shunned by the villagers, he had no ability to care for the boys. Their grandmother is very old, but is a Christian. She claims to have had a vision from the Lord regarding the two boys. In the vision she saw the boys lying along a road, covered in ashes. A ‘stranger’ came down the road, lifted the boys up and removed the ashes and embraced them. After telling her pastor of the vision, he contacted the FID Home to see if the boys could be raised there. Staff members visited the grandmother to verify the story. She did, saying, “You were sent by God to care for the children. Please take them to your home.”

Joshua
DOB: 10/9/2003
When Joshuas mother died, he and his sister Asha were left to live with her aunt, but her aunt was not able to adequately care for them. With their mother dead and father gone, and no one else able to support them, they began begging near the local chicken market. When a staff member from the FID childrens home went to buy a large quantity of chickens at the market, an employee of the market asked them why they were buying so much. Upon learning that it was for the childrens home, the employee took the FID staffer to where the children were and asked if they take them in. Now Joshua has a family at the FID home. He likes playing alone most of the time, as he is very shy. Before coming to the FID home, Joshua only knew Hinduism. He had never heard about Jesus Christ. Now he learns about the life and love of Jesus along with the other children. Joshua loves Psalm 23.

Mark
DOB: 2002
Yesupadamis mother found Mark in the streets. She said both of his parents were dead. She is very poor and does not even have the means to care for her own son. She knows the good care Yesupadami gets at the FID childrens home, so she took Mark to the home and asked could he please stay there too. The home had room for Mark and readily took him in. Now Mark is very happy with his new family, and he is learning more about the love of Jesus every day.

Samuel
DOB: 8/4/2000
Samuels father died of AIDS and his mother left him with relatives when he was a baby. He was frequently passed around and never knew a steady home. Because he didnt belong, he had to try to take care of himself. His relatives left him on the streets to beg for his food. One day a lady Evangelist told him he had a sister named Rebeka who was living and at the FID childrens home. She asked if he would like to go there. She said the people who work and live there teach about the Love of Jesus Christ and they show how much God loves children by taking care them. Samuel very much wanted to go there and be with his sister. Now that Samuel is an FID kid, he is very, VERY HAPPY! Before coming to the FID home Samuel had heard about Jesus, but did not know very much about Christianity. At FID, he has indeed learned about the love of Christ through the care and compassion of the staff, and through their corporate Bible studies and prayer times.

David

David was introduced to the FID Children’s Home through Prasanthi, one of the other FID children at the home. David’s father lost an eye and no longer had the means to care for his family. As a result, David was placed into a child labor situation at a local fish farm. He was not able to attend school, and worked for very meager wages. Now he has been accepted into the FID family where he is able to go to school with the other children. He has also turned away from his Hindu background and embraced the way of Jesus Christ. He is very happy to be at the home.

Timothy Raju
DOB: 2002
Timothy is Ruths younger brother. He has suffered abuse in many ways. When he was home, he was forced to beg in the streets every day. Whatever he was able get from begging was taken from him when he got home. Now Timothy spends his days in school getting an education, and his mornings and evenings with his FID family learning about Jesus and the good news of His love. Like all of the children in the home, Timothy now gets three meals a day, and he is loving to enjoy being a child.
Timothy was raised in a Hindu culture, but now is learning and growing in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ through daily Bible study and prayers times at the FID home. He is learning from the staff that love is a verb.

Yesupadami
DOB: 9/12/2001
Yesupadamis father was very sick. His mother worked in different peoples home to earn a meager living that was not able to provide enough food for the family. Even with his disease, his father would go out begging, but it still was not enough. A former staff members of the FID childrens home talked with Yesupadamis parents about sending him to live there. They agreed and sent their son with him to the home because they knew they could not provide for him. Yesupadami says he particularly enjoys the evening bath. Someday he would like to be a teacher. Yesupadami was raised a Hindu. At the FID home he has learned about the love of Christ. He prays with all of the children pray together three times a day, and sings worship songs, praising God.

Joel

Joel came to the FID Children’s Home with his sister Martha. Both of their parents had AIDS. The father was expected to live for only another few weeks. The mother was too weak to care for them. They had no known relatives. Because they had AIDS, all of the villagers shunned them and the children had no one to care for them. They were recommended to the FID Home by a local social worker who was very concerned for their welfare. Being of the Dalit caste, the children has no education, and no knowledge of Jesus Christ. Now they are going to school regularly, and are learning about hope in Christ along with the rest of the children.

Joseph

Joseph came to the FID home with his sister Mary. Their father was a drunkard and deserted the family. They tried to survive by picking up scraps of paper to sell. This did not produce enough income for them to survive. Their mother brought them to the FID home and asked her children to wait there while she went to buy them some food. She never returned. The grandmother is a widow and a beggar. She comes to the FID church sometimes for a meal. The staff inquired of her about the children’s mother and discovered that after abandoning the children she ran off with her lover. The grandmother has no means to care for the children, so they are now enlisted as ‘members’ of the family at the FID Children’s Home where they are learning about Jesus, and the love of a Father who will never desert them.

Pavan
DOB: 6/28/2006
Pavan is Asyria’s brother. Their father went insane. The children were relegated to live under a tree with their mother. They had no place to go when the rain was coming. A local pastor saw their desperate situation and brought them to the children's home. Pavan joins the ranks with the little rascals, but usually listens when he is told to do something
Before coming to the home, Pavan’s family was Hindu. Now he enjoys singing worship songs with his new family as together they learn about the love of Jesus.

Prasad
DOB: 8/10/2003
Both of Prasad’s parents are sick with AIDS. He has grandparents, but they are too elderly to care for him and his two sisters. A local pastor brought his older sister Bhanu to the FID children’s home. She liked it so well that she asked the staff at FID if Prasad and her sister Mounika could come live there as well. They agreed and Prasad came to be a member of the FID family.
Before coming to the FID home the only spiritualism Prasad was familiar with was Hinduism. He never heard about Jesus Christ. Now he learns more about Jesus and His love every day. He loves Psalm 23.
